Mark V. Yelchaninov

Military serviceman Mark Yelchaninov was killed on July 29, 2022, in battles in Donetsk region. The defender was 46 years old. Mark was born in Russia. In his childhood, he moved with his family to Donetsk region, to the city of Bakhmut. After several relocations, he lived permanently in the city since 1991. He was a private entrepreneur and owned an electronics store. When the Russo-Ukrainian war began, the man closed his business and was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2015. Since then, he fought in the ATO / JFO for Donbas, which became dear to him. "People, do not wish for war, do not hope that someone will come and do something for you. Do it yourself. You can say that the government is bad, there is corruption, bad roads, a bad yard — but do something yourself!" Mark said in an interview in 2015. He faced the full-scale war on the front lines of Donetsk region and continued to defend Ukrainian lands from Russian occupiers. He fought as part of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa. "A very good, bright person, he never refused to help, a professional, he never had conflicts in service, everyone respected and valued him. Eternal rest, Mark!" wrote a friend of the deceased, Olena. The defender was buried at the Krasnopil Cemetery in Dnipro.
