Mykhailo A. Koval (Killer)

Born on November 4, 1979, in the village of Kupchyntsi, Illinetskyi district, Vinnytsia region. Graduated from the general education school in the village of Kupchyntsi. In 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a sniper in the 25th Territorial Defense Battalion "Kyivska Rus" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit field post V0676). From summer to autumn 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On September 21, 2014, the checkpoint near the city of Debaltseve in Donetsk region, where Senior Soldier Koval was on duty, came under attack by Russian militants. The terrorists shelled the checkpoint with mortars and small arms. Senior Soldier Koval sustained a gunshot wound to the neck with damage to blood vessels, as a result of which he died. Along with him, during the attack on the checkpoint, Senior Sergeant Oleksandr Starov was killed. He is buried in the cemetery of the village of Kupchyntsi, Illinetskyi district, Vinnytsia region.
