- Born on March 16, 1985, in the village of Pylypcha, Bilozerkivskyi district, Kyiv region. In 2002, he graduated from the general education school of the village of Pylypcha. After finishing school, he worked as a laborer at the Limited Liability Company "Pylypchanske," then at the private enterprise of Vdovik V.P. He served his mandatory military service. He underwent military training at the 169th Training Guards Center of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0665, the urban-type settlement of Desna, Kozelets district, Chernihiv region). He served in the coastal defense military unit of the Naval Forces of Ukraine. In the spring of 2014, he was mobilized by the Bilozerkivskyi Combined City Military Commissariat of Kyiv region into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as the deputy commander of a combat vehicle - a gunner-operator of the 5th mechanized platoon of the 5th mechanized company of the 2nd mechanized battalion of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A2167, the city of Bila Tserkva, Kyiv region). Since 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 9, 2014, Sergeant Shcherban was killed while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Rozivka, Shakhtarsky district, Donetsk region.
