Mykhailo M. Chaban

Sapper Mykhailo Chaban was killed on February 27, 2023, in battle with the occupiers in the area of the village of Oleksandrivka in the Donetsk region. The defender was 29 years old. Mykhailo was born and lived in the village of Pokotylove, Kirovohrad region. He graduated from the Pokotyliv secondary school. Then he entered a technical school, but studied there for less than a year and immediately went to do his military service. When he returned, he worked in various fields. In June 2014, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, served in the 3rd Special Forces Regiment in the security company. He participated in the ATO / JFO in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. When he came on leave or weekends, he loved to relax and help his parents around the house. He loved children very much. He dreamed of having his own family, but never managed to create one. In November 2021, he resigned and planned to return to civilian life. At the beginning of the full-scale war, in March 2022, Mykhailo returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and again went to defend his native country from the occupiers. He served as part of the 71st Separate Jaeger Brigade. He underwent training as a sapper in Poland and immediately went to the front line. "He was the best brother and uncle for my son. He will be forever in our hearts. This is our little sun that always smiles. His memory will live as long as our hearts beat," wrote the deceased's sister. The soldier was buried in his native village. Mykhailo is survived by his stepfather Anatoliy Mykolaiovych, sister Oksana and nephew Tymofii.
