- Sergeant Major Mykhaylo Dovbnia (call sign Corporal) was killed on September 18, 2023, near the village of Novoprokopivka in the Zaporizhzhia region during enemy mortar shelling. The warrior did not live to see his 26th birthday by two weeks. Mykhaylo was born in the village of Ryashky, Chernihiv region, in a large family. He first studied at the local general secondary school of grades I-III, and then at the Kopyliv school. After obtaining incomplete secondary education, he continued his studies at the Kyiv Professional Energy Lyceum, where he obtained the profession of painter-plasterer, tiler. In civilian life, he worked at a factory on laser machines. He loved military affairs. In 2017, he was drafted for military service. After its completion, the man signed a contract, and three times took part in the war in eastern Ukraine. He served in Siverskyi, then in Chasovyi Yar and Lyman. After returning home, he got married, and in 2021 he had a son. The family lived in the village of Kozynets, Kyiv region. With the start of the full-scale invasion, Mykhaylo and his family found themselves in Russian occupation. In March, volunteers helped the family leave for Chernihiv. The man went to the military registration and enlistment office, volunteered and again took up the defense of the Motherland as part of the 46th separate air assault brigade. He held the position of platoon sergeant. He went through battles for Bakhmut and Soledar, took part in the liberation of Kherson, and fought in the Zaporizhzhia direction. He received the "For Wound" medal and the "For Bravery in Battle" order. "He was calm, friendly, sincere, honest, faithful and reliable - he never refused to help anyone. He could give away the last thing. When we talked to his comrades-in-arms, they told about one case. When they were defeated, Mykhaylo had two bulletproof vests. He without doubt gave his, said that the time will come when they will pay him back," his wife Marina said. The defender was buried in the village of Hmyrianka, Chernihiv region.
