Mykhailo M. Herman (Mesi)

27-year-old junior sergeant Mykhailo Herman (call sign Messi) was killed on February 29, 2024, near the settlement of Nevelske in the Donetsk region. He was trying to provide assistance to a wounded comrade when the enemy attacked them with a drone. Both warriors were killed. Mykhailo was born and lived in Vasylkiv, Kyiv region. He studied at the National Aviation University but left his studies and started working. He was an entrepreneur, had his own business - he painted and repaired cars. He loved life, adored spending time with friends, and traveling around Ukraine. In 2024, he was planning to get married. During the full-scale war, Mykhailo fought for his Homeland as part of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 59th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade. He received the medal "For Bravery in Combat". "Mishka went to war as a volunteer. He chose this path after the start of the full-scale invasion, we all morally struggled with February 24, Vasylkiv was heavily shelled. At the war, he found a close friend who was killed on October 6, 2022, and he was deeply affected by his death. For 1.5 years of the war (from September 2022), Mishka's fate protected him, he had minor injuries. His comrades introduced him to a girl who was to become his wife. We all looked forward to his return from the war. On March 2, we were waiting for a video call because it was mom's birthday. We didn't get it..." - said the sister of the fallen Kseniia Herman. The warrior was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the central cemetery in Vasylkiv. Mykhailo is survived by his parents, sister, two brothers, fiancée, nephew, and niece.
