- Soldier Mykhailo Oleksieienko was killed on April 15, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the city of Kreminna in the Luhansk region. In May, the defender would have turned 29 years old. Mykhailo was born in the city of Sloviansk, Donetsk region. He studied at the local school No. 8, was a scholarship holder of the city council as a gifted student. He graduated from school with a gold medal. In 2017, he graduated from the Department of Political Science at V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. He collaborated with the Foundation of Public Initiatives and the "Building Ukraine Together" fund. When the full-scale war began, the man left for Lviv. Then he joined the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought as part of the 125th separate brigade of territorial defense. After training, he went to defend his native Donbas from the occupiers. "I really want the eternal memory of the hero to live on, so that people understand the price at which the protection of the native country is given. A bright and cheerful person, a true patriot. We are losing the best," said the acquaintance of the deceased Ilona. "He always had a clear civic position, was an activist, a caring person. During his student years, as the head of the student council of the student campus, he took care of the well-being of the dormitories. Everyone who knew Mykhailo remembers him as an honest, decent, and worthy person, he left his mark on the hearts of many. He was a true patriot of Ukraine. It is very sad that the war is taking away the best, those on whom the future of our country should have rested and formed," the Kharkiv University noted. "He was a driver of positivity. Wherever he was, he made people smile even in the saddest and most difficult moment. He was always able to give advice, shared his experience and time. He showed everyone what a PERSON should be: courageous in times of war and ready to help those in need," added his friend Dmytro. The soldier was buried in the Northern Cemetery in his hometown. Mykhailo is survived by his mother Nelya and father Oleh.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
