Mykhailo O. Kornilov

Junior Sergeant Mykhailo Kornilov (call sign Tourist) died on May 12, 2023, while performing a combat mission near the village of Orikho-Vasylivka in the Donetsk region. The warrior was 25 years old. Mykhailo was born and lived in Kharkiv. In 2019, he graduated from V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University, where he studied at the Faculty of International Economic Relations and Tourism Business. He worked various jobs. He was passionate about kayaking, cycling, and hiking. That's why he took the call sign Tourist in the army. With the start of the full-scale war, the man unhesitatingly went to defend his city and country from the enemy. He fought as part of the 127th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a rifleman of the rifle squad of the rifle platoon of the rifle company of the 225th battalion. For his worthy service, the soldier was awarded the honorary badge of the 127th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the III degree, the badge of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine "Badge of Honor," and the medal "For the Defense of the Hero City of Kharkiv." "He was a wonderful, kind, and sensitive person. He wanted to help and helped everyone who needed it. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he went as a volunteer to defend his home," said the deceased's girlfriend, Olha. Mykhailo was buried in the Alley of Glory of cemetery No. 18 in his hometown. His grandmother and beloved were waiting for him at home.
