- Senior Sergeant Mykhaylo Makarov (call sign Makar) was killed on November 7, 2022 in a battle with Russian invaders in the area of the settlement of Ozaryanivka in the Donetsk region. On October 17, the defender turned 41 years old. Mykhaylo was born in the city of Yahotyn, Kyiv region. He graduated from Yahotyn Vocational School No. 11, where he obtained the profession of a repair mechanic and driver. He worked as a security guard. He was interested in cars and loved fishing very much. In 2014-2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. On the second day of the full-scale war, on February 25, 2022, the man returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to defend his country again. Mykhaylo served in the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Kostiantyn Ostrozkyi. After training, he took the position of senior rifleman in the motorized infantry squad. "I loved my uncle very much. He was an incredibly kind and sincere person who would always come to help in any circumstances. He has been giving me all his love and warmth since my childhood. My own uncle, whom I loved infinitely, named me Oksana. Although time has passed, I cannot believe that I will never see him again. For me, he remained at the war... from which he will not return... How I would like to see him and hug him for a few seconds," said the late Oksana Makarova, the niece of the deceased. Mykhaylo was buried in the village of Zasupoyivka in the Kyiv region, where he lived. The defender left behind his mother, two brothers, a sister, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms. The warrior was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
