Mykhailo Ya. Datskiv (Misha)

Junior Sergeant Mykhailo Datskyi was killed on March 24, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near the town of Popasna in the Luhansk region. On March 31, the defender would have turned 48 years old. Mykhailo was born in the village of Kovynychi in the Lviv region. He stu at the police school and worked as a police officer. Later, he engaged in farming and grew grain. He loved repairing machinery and was also skilled in cross-stitching. During the full-scale Russian invasion, he fought for Ukraine as part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel. He served as the commander of a grenade launcher squad and participated in battles for the Luhansk region. "Dad was an extraordinarily kind and bright person, a pillar of the family. He worked hard and helped his fellow villagers. He adored his grandchildren and catered to them. Unfortunately, misfortune took him away to eternity forever!" said the daughter of the fallen, Natalia. Mykhailo is survived by his mother, sister, wife, daughter, and four grandchildren. Posthumously, Junior Sergeant Mykhailo Datskyi was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
