Mykhailo Ya. Ivas (Maikl)

21-year-old soldier Mykhailo Ivasy (call sign Michael) was killed on May 11, 2023 near the village of Bilohorivka in Donetsk region. The life of the warrior was cut short by enemy mortar fire. Mykhailo was from the city of Ternopil. After school, he studied at the Ternopil Center for Vocational Education. He mastered the professions of locksmith, electric welder, and driver. In his youth, he was engaged in weaving from reed. He loved to travel and visit different cities of Ukraine. He worked abroad for some time. Then he returned to his homeland and found a job at the "TDK" company. In 2023, the young man signed a contract and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss". He was a driver of the grenade launcher section of the fire support platoon of the mountain assault company of the 8th battalion. "He never looked for easy ways. He was always kind, cheerful, funny and ready to help and protect at any moment. He was always confident in his endeavors and saw them through to the end. He valued every minute of his life and had many friends. He was the best brother in the world," said the sister of the deceased, Maria Malinovska. Mykhailo was buried at the Mykulynets cemetery in Ternopil. At home, his parents, wife, son, sister, grandmothers and grandfathers were waiting for him. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
