Mykhailo Ya. Kalynevych (Kalyna)

Soldier Mykhailo Kalynevych (call sign Kalyna) was killed on December 14, 2022, during the defense of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. Near the village of Klishchiyivka, the defender came under enemy mortar fire. In November, the warrior turned 48 years old. Mykhailo was born in the city of Kamyanka-Buzka, Lviv region. Here he received his education, lived, created a family, and raised a son. He worked as a driver. In 2019, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo. He was a driver of a machine gun platoon. He carried out combat missions on the territory of the Joint Forces Operation. Kalyna, together with his comrades-in-arms, met the full-scale Russian invasion on the front line in Donbas. Their unit defended Luhansk, Kherson, and Donetsk regions. "I am the son of a Hero of Ukraine. My father is an example for me... Sometimes you need to come to terms with what is and accept the circumstances of life that have developed. This does not mean that a person has done something wrong somewhere. Probably, they need to live through this particular period of life. And one needs to live with dignity: not to retreat, not to be afraid, and not to run away, but to remain with God," wrote Maksym Kalynevych. The defender was buried in his hometown. At home, Mykhailo was awaited by his wife Olha and son Maksym.
