Mykhailo Yu. Toporkov (Tor)

Soldier Mykhailo Toporkov (call sign Tor) was killed on July 27, 2022 in a battle with Russian occupiers near the city of Vuhledar in the Donetsk region. The defender was 39 years old. Mykhailo was born in the city of Ukrainka, Kyiv region. From childhood he lived in Zaporizhzhia. There he graduated from city gymnasium No. 77. He worked as a furniture assembler at the PP "Chistikov" factory. He was fond of sports, engaged in athletics. During the full-scale Russian invasion, in March 2022, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine to protect his home and relatives from the enemy. Mykhailo served in the 24th separate assault battalion "Aidar" as part of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. According to his comrades-in-arms, he was a calm, focused, reliable and courageous warrior. "He is our Hero! We love, are proud of, and value him. He will always live in our hearts. He is our guardian angel!" - wrote the wife of the fallen Lilia. The warrior was buried in the Alley of Glory of the Kushuhum cemetery near Zaporizhzhia. At home, Mykhailo was awaited by his wife and two daughters. Posthumously, soldier Mykhailo Toporkov was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. In September 2023, a street in Zaporizhzhia was renamed from Vladivostokska to Mykhailo Toporkov.
