- Soldier Mykola Azhymov (call sign Zam) was killed on September 14, 2022, during the defense of Donetsk region from the occupiers. In the village of Mykolaivka, the enemy's missile attack cut short the life of the defender. He was 46 years old. Mykola was born in Dnipro. He graduated from 9 grades of the local school. He worked as a galvanizer at a metallurgical plant. He was interested in cars, football, and computer games. In his free time, he loved fishing and gardening. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Mykola decided to defend Ukraine and his own family. He joined the ranks of the 24th Separate Assault Battalion "Aidar" of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a grenadier. On September 11, Mykola ended up near Bakhmut. The next day, he last called his wife. But due to poor connection, she heard him, but he did not hear her. Two days later, he was killed. "Mykola went to fight voluntarily. His decision was driven not only by the desire to defend his homeland, but also by responsibility for his own family. He was always firm, decisive in his intentions and actions, and did not like objections. On August 15, he left home without hesitation or worries. He was glad to be engaged in a real male affair. He was confident that the bullets would bypass him, and he would soon return with a victory," said his wife Natalia. The serviceman was buried at the Krasnopilsky cemetery in his native Dnipro. Mykola is survived by his wife and daughter.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
