Biography
Mykola Hryhorovych Obertіy was born on February 6, 1972, in the village of Stryzhavka in the Vinnytsia region. After finishing local secondary school, he served in the army. He then worked in Russia for 10 years. He returned to his homeland and served for 13 years at the Stryzhavka Correctional Colony. He retired but in 2020, he enlisted for contract military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of commander of a grenade launcher squad in the combat platoon of the 2nd reconnaissance company of military unit A1445. With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he was on the front lines. In early March 2022, he came under enemy fire near the village of Luhove in the Zaporizhzhia region. He was considered missing since March 2, 2022. On March 26, Mykola Obertіy's body was delivered to the city of Zaporizhzhia. A farewell ceremony for the fallen was held on April 3, 2022, near the Stryzhavka Village Council.Burial place
