- Senior soldier Mykola Herhieliuk (call sign Tyson) died on July 26, 2024 in a hospital in Dnipro. A week earlier, while carrying out a combat mission in the Donetsk region, the warrior sustained serious injuries as a result of enemy mortar shelling. The defender was forever 25 years old. Mykola was born in the village of Poliske in the Rivne region. He graduated from the Poliske secondary school. He was a capable student, actively participated in volleyball and football competitions, valued friendship and always responded to requests for help. He received professional education at the Rivne Higher Vocational School No. 1 in the specialty "Construction Finisher". He was a cheerful person. For his parents, he was the only loving and caring son who always helped them in everything. Mykola made plans for life and realized his dreams. During the full-scale war, he defended the country as part of the 12th Special Purpose Brigade "Azov". He was the spotter of the special purpose (fire support) squad of the special purpose reconnaissance platoon. For his service, he received a number of awards, including the "War Veteran" badge and the "Defender of Ukraine" medal. "Every time, during his short vacations, I begged my son to stay home, to which he replied that he had to be there, with his comrades-in-arms. Mykola's comrades remember him every day, saying that they miss him very much. For his comrades-in-arms, he was an example and an incentive to always go into battle and not be afraid. Mykola was a true patriot of Ukraine, a strong, courageous and brave warrior who, despite the danger, always confidently and professionally carried out combat missions. His courage and self-sacrifice will always remain in our hearts. He became an example for all of us, and we will never forget his feat," wrote his mother Valentyna. The defender was buried in his native village. Mykola is survived by his parents, relatives and friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
