- 32-year-old paratrooper Mykola Kalapishchak (call sign Kolyan) was killed on September 28, 2023 near the settlement of Bilohorivka in the Luhansk region. While rescuing a wounded comrade under enemy fire, he was fatally wounded himself. Mykola was a native of the village of Verkhnie in the Lviv region. He graduated from the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas. He lived with his family in the city of Stryi. He worked at the local branch of "Ukrtransgaz". In May 2023, he was conscripted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training in the United Kingdom. Later, he fought on the eastern front as part of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade. He held the position of sniper rifleman. "Mykola was a sincere, courageous, fair, brave, and honest person," said his sister Maria Babunich. The hero was buried in his native village. Mykola is survived by his mother, sister, wife, and daughter.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
