- Sergeant Mykola Skornyakov (call sign Borsuk) died on September 11, 2023 near the village of Priyutne in the Zaporizhia region. While carrying out a combat mission, the soldier received fatal injuries during an enemy artillery barrage. He would have turned 55 years old the following month. Mykola was from the city of Kamianka-Dniprovska in the Zaporizhia region. He had a secondary education. In civilian life, he worked as a technician at the Energodar nuclear power plant. In his free time, he engaged in gardening. In 2014-2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man voluntarily took up arms and went to the front. He served in the 110th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a combat vehicle commander. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended his native region. For his service, he was awarded the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's "Golden Cross" distinction. "The man was always in hot spots. He went in 2014 to defend Ukraine because he loved it very much. From the very beginning of the full-scale invasion, he joined the ranks of the Vasilkivskyi separate battalion of the Territorial Defense, because he could not remain on the sidelines when the enemy invaded the country," said the civilian wife of the fallen Svitlana. The defender was buried in the village of Komyshuvakha in the Zaporizhia region. Mykola is survived by his civilian wife, daughter, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
