Mykola O. Bainak (Baron)

Senior Sergeant Mykola Bainiak (call sign Baron) was killed on October 29, 2023 near the village of Pervomayske in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, the defender sustained a fatal explosive injury. He was 41 years old. Mykola was born in the village of Zarudyntsi, Zhytomyr region. He graduated from the Zarudyntsi secondary school. In civilian life, he worked as a security guard. He was passionate about fishing. He loved his family very much. He dedicated his free time to his loved ones and went to war for their sake. Since 2014, the man has been fighting for Ukraine in the ATO / JFO. Within the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, he went through the hot spots of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. In June 2023, he was transferred to the 11th battalion of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Handziuk. He held the position of senior mortar gunner of the mortar platoon. "He was a very kind, wonderful father, the best husband and a true patriot of his homeland. He was proud of his girls. The elder daughter wanted to become like her father and entered the military college of the sergeant corps of KhNUPS," said the wife of the deceased. "He was a sensitive person, a loyal friend, a loving husband and father, a true patriot of Ukraine. Mykola's courage and heroism are an example for all of us, reminding us how important it is to defend our native land. The bravery and self-sacrifice of the hero are invaluable," noted the Ruzhyn community. The hero was buried in his native village. Mykola is survived by his wife Olga and daughters Anastasia and Oleksandra.
