- Soldier Mykola Polishchuk (call sign Kalyan) was killed on October 14, 2023 near the village of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. While carrying out a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. The fighter did not live to see his 30th birthday by two months. Mykola was originally from the city of Shepetivka in the Khmilnytskyi region. In 2009, after graduating from local school No. 2, he enrolled in the Shepetivka Vocational Lyceum. There he mastered the profession of an electric gas welder. In civilian life, he worked as a construction worker and a high-altitude installation worker. For the last 5 years, he was a welder at the Lemberg Battery company. In his free time, he loved to fish and collect mushrooms. He was passionate about football and loved to play and root for the Ukrainian national team. In June 2023, the man was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He underwent training in the Rivne region. After that, he was sent to defend the Zaporizhzhia direction. Mykola held the position of driver of the reconnaissance platoon's unmanned aerial vehicle systems in the 117th Separate Mechanized Brigade. "Kolya is my Hero. He was a brave and courageous warrior, a courageous defender. Always smiling, kind, fair, reliable, understanding, hardworking, the soul of the company - that's how everyone knows him. He said that when they gave him the summons, he would not hide and would go serve," his wife Maria said. The military man was buried in his hometown. Mykola is survived by his wife, two children whom he loved very much, although they were not his own, as well as a sister and nephews.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
