- Sergeant Mykola Varchyn (call sign Sailor) was killed on May 18, 2024, in the village of Zhovta Krucha, Zaporizhia region. The warrior remained forever 30 years old. Mykola was born in the village of Lyubytiv in Volyn. In civilian life, he worked as a 3rd class track fitter at the Kivertsi track section of the Lviv Railway. Colleagues say that at work he managed to complete his own task and come to help when needed. He quickly gained respect not only among his peers, but also among older, more experienced workers. He planned to marry his beloved girlfriend. On the third day of the full-scale invasion, on February 26, 2022, the man was in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a mortar man in the 3rd mechanized battalion, commanding a mortar crew. "Persistent, disciplined, neat, with a great sense of humor - Mykola was very responsible in his work and at the same time managed to make witty jokes, creating a good working atmosphere," said Mykola Varchyn's mentor and friend, track foreman Vitaliy Yakobchuk. Despite the fact that Mykola was 20 years younger than Vitaliy, the men quickly found a common language and became friends. The fighter left behind his parents and a brother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
