- Mykola Valentynovych Herbін was born on March 9, 1988, in the territory of Russia. For over 14 years, Sergeant Mykola Herbін dedicated himself to fulfilling his military duty. The officer's commitment to the protection of the state border, personal responsibility, determination, and discipline became an example of faithful service to the Ukrainian people and the interests of the state for his subordinate personnel. On February 24, 2022, at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, Mykola Herbін fought alongside the servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the National Guard's special forces regiment "Azov," carrying out combat missions, particularly in the area of the city of Maryinka in the Donetsk region. On March 20, 2022, a consolidated unit of the "Novotroitske" border service department moved out to carry out combat missions in the city of Maryinka, Donetsk region. Around 16:40, during fierce combat with superior enemy forces, Mykola Herbін, while covering his comrades with fire from small arms and grenade launchers, sustained fatal gunshot wounds incompatible with life. Mykola's comrades evacuated his body from the battlefield. For personal bravery and selfless actions demonstrated in the defense of Ukraine's state sovereignty and territorial integrity, and loyalty to the military oath, Sergeant Mykola Valentynovych Herbін was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" III degree.Memory Book of the MIA System
