- Senior soldier Mykola Kharchenko died on July 31, 2023 while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhia region. The defender was 41 years old. Mykola was born in the village of Maryanivka, Poltava region. In 2000, he graduated from the Kremenchuk Pedagogical College named after Anton Makarenko, obtaining the qualification of a primary school and computer science teacher. He lived in Kyiv. He worked as a teacher at the Maxym Rylsky school in the capital. He served his compulsory military service in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region. After completing his service, he worked in the security of the Kyiv metro, in the Darnytsia police department, and then was a construction worker. With the start of the full-scale war, the man volunteered to the territorial defense of Poltava. He fought near Bakhmut, was wounded, but returned to the ranks. Later, he served in the ranks of the 3rd Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. He was a machine gunner of the operational platoon of the 2nd operational company (on armored personnel carriers) of the 4th operational battalion. "For me, he was the best person. Gentle, loving, beloved and sincere," said the wife of the fallen Vira. "May the Heavenly Kingdom rest the godson, eternal and bright memory to the Hero, rest in peace. Sincere condolences to the relatives, parents," wrote Volodymyr Sahan. The National Guard soldier was buried in his native village in the Poltava region.
