Mykola V. Kovalchuk

Senior soldier Mykola Kovalchuk was killed on June 1, 2023, while performing his official duties near the village of Stepove in the Zaporizhzhia region. The defender was 40 years old.Mykola was born and lived in the village of Kolky, Volyn region. He graduated from the Kolky Vocational School. In civilian life, he worked as a driver in the local fire brigade. He participated in the ATO in 2014. He dedicated his free time to his nieces. He loved fishing. On the second day of the full-scale war, on February 25, 2022, the man again took up the defense of his native country from the enemy. Mykola served in the 2nd Separate Rifle Battalion of military unit A7086 of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of senior driver of the rifle platoon of the rifle company. "My brother was fair, brave, courageous and simply the best. We lived together, as he did not have his own family. He loved my mother and my daughters very much," said Olga Blyzniuk. Mykola was buried in his native village near his father's grave. At home, he was awaited by his mother, sister, and nieces.
