Mykola V. Sapun (Bruk)

Soldier Mykola Sapun (call sign Bruk) was killed on October 4, 2023, while performing a combat mission in the village of Kucheriv Yar in the Donetsk region. The warrior was 24 years old. Mykola was born in the village of Shestovytsia, Chernihiv region. He lived in the settlement of Mykhaylo-Kotsiubynske. He obtained the profession of a mechanic-assembler and a repair mechanic at the Chernihiv Higher Vocational School. In civilian life, he worked at a service station. After the start of the full-scale war, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as part of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa. He held the position of machine gunner. He first defended Chernihiv, and then went to the eastern direction. He received a certificate of participant in hostilities, the award "For the Defense of the Native State" and posthumously - the Order of Courage of the III degree. "My husband was a very kind, bright, responsible person. He always helped everyone. In response to my requests to leave the army, he said that he could not... He said that his comrades-in-arms would be without him... He very much wanted a son, but never saw him. I love him infinitely and still cannot come to terms with the loss," wrote Viktoria Sapun. The soldier was buried on October 11, 2023, in the Mykhaylo-Kotsiubynske cemetery. Mykola is survived by his mother, wife and a son who was born four months after his father's death.
