- Mykola Volozhskyi was born on September 3, 1996, in Svitlovodsk, Kirovohrad region. After finishing school, from 2011 to 2015, Mykola studied at the Kremenchuk Flight College of NAU and received a diploma as a junior specialist in the field of "Aircraft and Aviation Engine Maintenance Technician." After graduating from the educational institution, Mykola Volozhskyi made a conscious choice and in September 2016 enlisted in the National Guard of Ukraine's aviation unit under a contract. The young man dreams of becoming an officer and an aviation specialist, so he continues his education. From 2015 to 2018, he studied at the Kharkiv National University of Air Forces named after I. Kozhedub and obtained a master's degree in "Aviation Transport." He served in military positions as a soldier and sergeant in the regulation and repair group (on helicopters and aviation engines) of the technical and operational unit of military unit 2269. Mykola Volozhskyi encountered the full-scale invasion as part of the National Guard of Ukraine's Aviation Base. Since February 24, 2022, the servicemen of the aviation base began round-the-clock duty. The duty forces constantly service the aviation equipment of both the National Guard of Ukraine and the army aviation of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which carry out combat missions and arrive at the airfield. On April 15, 2022, an enemy strike was carried out on the "Oleksandriya" airfield with two Kalibr-type missiles. During the explosion, a hangar and the building of the technical and operational unit were destroyed, and other structures of the unit were also damaged. As a result of the missile strike, 6 servicemen who were performing their duties as part of the acceptance and release group of aircraft involved in combat operations and ensuring the protection and defense of the airfield were killed. Among the dead was aviation technician Mykola Volozhskyi, a chief sergeant from the regulation and repair group (on helicopters and aviation engines) of the technical and operational unit. Mykola did not have time to obtain an officer's rank. The young man had a beloved girlfriend, Anastasia, whom he planned to marry in 2022, but the aggressor destroyed the future of the young couple. For personal courage, selfless actions, and heroism displayed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as loyalty to the military oath, Mykola Volozhskyi was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree. According to the order of the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Mykola Volozhskyi has been forever enrolled in the personnel list of military unit 2269.Memory Book of the MIA System
