- 22-year-old paratrooper Mykola Vytak was killed on June 13, 2023 near the village of Bilohirivka in the Luhansk region. During enemy shelling, a shell hit the building where the soldier was located. The injuries proved fatal. Mykola was born in the village of Hnizdychiv in the Lviv region. He obtained the profession of a mechanic at the Lviv Vocational Lyceum. He worked at the Kokhavynka paper factory. He was passionate about cars. During the full-scale war, on April 25, 2023, Mykola joined the ranks of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 81st separate airmobile brigade. After training, he went to the front line. "Mykola was a desperate and kind person. His last words were: 'We must defend our land, because who, if not us?' He was a true warrior, a man of his word, a man of courage, an example of indomitability and strength of spirit. Mykola honorably fulfilled his duty to protect his state and remained faithful to the oath, the Ukrainian people and Ukraine until his last breath. Defending and protecting the right to our safe life, he gave his own, not regretting it. We are proud of him, his indomitability and patriotism. Eternal memory and honor to all who gave their lives for Ukraine!" - wrote the deceased's cousin Serhiy Huntsiv. The young soldier was buried in his native village. Mykola is survived by his mother, brother, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
