- 53-year-old Chief Sergeant Mykola Romantsev was killed in action on April 24, 2022, during an artillery shelling near the town of Zolote in Luhansk region. Mykola was born in the village of Huta, Rivne region. He stu at the local school, later graduating from Dubno Pedagogical College and Luhansk Pedagogical Institute. He worked as a geography teacher at Huta School and later became its director. In his spare time, Mykola Yuriyovych was fond of beekeeping. The man went to fight in 2014, participating in battles in Donbas. So when the full-scale invasion began, Mykola did not stand aside and continued to defend Ukraine. As part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel, he commanded a platoon and successfully destroyed the enemy until his last breath. "A true patriot, loyal and reliable comrade, fighter for justice. He was wounded and could not be at home, thinking of others, wanting to protect and preserve the lives of young defenders who were nearby," - said his niece Valentyna. Mykola Yuriyovych was buried in his native village. The serviceman was survived by his daughter, son, sisters, and brother. Posthumously, Chief Sergeant Mykola Romantsev was awarded the Order of "Courage" III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
