      Killed in action on December 18, 2016, from a sniper's bullet during the battle for the liberation of the village of Kalynivka in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region. It later became known that his body fell into the hands of the militants. On December 25, 2016, in the city of Shchastia, Luhansk region, the bodies of two deceased Ukrainian servicemen, including Mykyta Yarovyi, were handed over to representatives of the Ministry of Defense in the presence of the OSCE SMM in exchange for the bodies of four LNR militants.
