Myron M. Vanio (Messi)

Junior Sergeant Myron Vanyo (call sign Messi) died in a hospital in Dnipro on January 24, 2023. The day before, the soldier sustained severe injuries in a battle with the occupiers near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The defender was forever 27 years old. Myron was born in the village of Hlynytsi, Lviv region. From childhood, he was passionate about football and had many awards and certificates for his sports achievements. After school, he studied at the Novoyavorivsk Higher Vocational School, where he obtained the qualifications of a car mechanic and a vehicle driver. In 2016, he obtained the qualification of a mechanic at another educational institution. He served his military service in the National Guard of Ukraine. At the time of the full-scale war, the man was in Poland, but he decided to return to defend his homeland. Myron fought in the ranks of the 63rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. He was the commander of the 2nd platoon of the reconnaissance platoon of the 107th Mechanized Battalion of military unit A3719. "Sociable, always friendly, kind and polite. A good brother and son, a loyal friend and comrade. This is how the 27-year-old Myron Vanyo was and will remain forever. In our memory, in our hearts," the Yavoriv City Council said. The defender was buried in his native village. Myron is survived by his parents, three brothers, and a sister.
