- Soldier Myroslav Vasylchuk (call sign Spaniard) was killed on March 25, 2022, during the defense of the Kyiv region from Russian occupiers. Near the village of Kukhari, the defender fought his last battle. He was 49 years old. Myroslav was born in the city of Kolomyia, Ivano-Frankivsk region. He studied at school No. 3. Then he obtained the profession of equipment adjuster at vocational school No. 10. In 1990, he was drafted into the army, serving in the airborne troops in Lithuania. Later, he worked at enterprises in Kolomyia, Kosiv, and also went abroad for work. During the Revolution of Dignity, he participated in the protests on Independence Square. From the beginning of the ATO, he actively volunteered, delivering aid to the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. On February 24, 2022, he was in Barcelona, Spain, but on February 27, he returned to Ukraine and volunteered to serve. He became a fighter of the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade "Edelweiss" of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took the position of driver and went to the front line. "He was an extraordinarily good person who would come to help at any moment, was true in his views and beliefs. Always cheerful, smiling, that's why his comrades-in-arms called him 'the positive one'. A person who loved life, his family, and Ukraine. He was the best father, son, and husband. After his death, each member of the family was left with a deep wound that will never heal, but all the memories warm the soul and give the strength to move on," said the deceased's niece Iryna. Myroslav was buried in the city of Kosiv, in his native Ivano-Frankivsk region. He is survived by his parents Hanna and Yuriy, wife Maria, daughter Diana, relatives, and friends. The soldier was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
