Soldier Oleg Kostryukov (call sign Groot) was killed on August 13, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the city of Siversk in Donetsk region. The warrior was 23 years old. Oleg was born in the city of Chernivtsi. He graduated from Chernivtsi Lyceum No. 17. Then he stu at Chernivtsi National University and Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture. He worked at Investbud company. He had plans for life and dreams. However, they were not destined to come true. In 2018, the guy was drafted into the army for a year of military service. A year later, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, served in the 36th Marine Brigade. He performed combat missions in the area of the Joint Forces Operation in Donbas. During his service, he underwent training at the Marine Infantry School according to NATO standards in Mykolaiv. He passed the exam for the wave-colored beret. He participated in the competitions of mortar men of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and as part of his group, he took first place. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Oleg was mobilized again. He performed the duties of an instructor at the training center for preparing personnel for combat actions. In the ranks of the 54th separate battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the fighter went to the forefront. "Olezhka was fair, honest, active. He had many friends. He was a man with a capital letter. He always helped, always smiled. He loved life boundlessly and gave his life so that others could live. He is a true hero and will forever be in our hearts!", said Karina, the deceased's girlfriend. "The terrible news shook our school family. Former student Oleg Kostryukov was killed by Russian occupiers. Brave, skilled, friendly, humane, bold, you will forever remain in our hearts. Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven to you, our Hero", wrote on the page of Chernivtsi Lyceum. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory of the Central Cemetery in his native Chernivtsi. At home, Oleg's father and his beloved were waiting for him.
