- Lieutenant Oleg Mazur (call sign Malyi) was killed on January 21, 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Nesterny in the Kharkiv region. In two months, on March 30, the defender would have turned 22 years old. Oleg was born in the city of Vinnytsia. He graduated from the 9th grade of the local Lyceum No. 6. From childhood, he loved skating and played for the hockey team "Piranii" of his hometown. He received good military training, first at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Military Lyceum, and then at the National Academy of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. After early graduation, he immediately went to war. Since January 2023, he has served in the 15th Mobile Border Guard Unit "Steel Border" of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He held the position of deputy commander of the 2nd border outpost of the 1st border service department. He fought the enemy in the hottest sectors of the eastern front, in particular near Klishchiyivka, Bakhmut, and Kupiansk. "He was the soul of the company, a loyal friend, fair and kind. He always said how much he loved us and that he went to war so that the enemies would not come to our home! He was a true patriot of Ukraine, he made the decision to go to war himself. He had his whole life ahead of him, but he couldn't stay on the sidelines. He was a combat officer, an assault trooper, a commander whom the boys followed! He was kind and honest, always stood for justice, was cheerful, and had a keen sense of humor. The best nephew, a golden son, a beloved grandson!" - said the aunt of the deceased Olga. The border guard was buried in the cemetery of the village of Luka-Meleshkivska, Vinnytsia region. Oleg is survived by his parents, younger brother, loving relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
