- Reconnaissance officer Oleg Nemchenko (call sign German) was killed on May 14, 2022 in a battle with the occupants near the village of Bogorodichne in the Donetsk region. The soldier fired a machine gun, covering the grenade launchers to destroy the enemy's equipment. His life was cut short by a tank shell that fell nearby. The defender did not live to see his 27th birthday. Oleg was born in Kharkiv. There he received his education, lived and worked. He was active, engaged in sports, including crossfit. Then he decided to connect his life with the military and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He lived in Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man defended Ukraine in the ranks of the 90th separate air assault battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine Senior Lieutenant Ivan Zubkov as part of the 81st Airborne Brigade. He held the position of 2nd category sniper in the reconnaissance platoon. "Oleg was a professional in his field. Cold-blooded, prudent, brave, risky. He fought in the ATO / OOS. He never gave up, was always at the height, went ahead. A true warrior. Always ready for the most difficult tasks. When he came to my unit, he said: "This is my path, and I have chosen it, whatever it may be." On May 14, 2022, during the task of unblocking the cut-off position, organizing a machine gun point and conducting aimed fire on the enemy and inflicting losses on him, he came under the fire of enemy tanks that had been trying to storm the position for the third day. Covering his comrade, he saved his life. But he himself received fatal wounds to the abdomen and chest. He was killed on the spot," said the commander of the deceased, Roman. The serviceman was buried in his native Kharkiv. At home, Oleg was awaited by his parents. Sergeant Oleg Nemchenko was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
