Oleh I. Kurskyi

35-year-old serviceman Oleg Kursky was killed on September 12, 2022, while performing a combat mission in Kherson region. Oleg was born in Donetsk. He graduated from the Donetsk Technical School of Industrial Automation. When the Russian-Ukrainian war began in 2014, he moved to Lviv. He worked as a senior environmental inspector in the regional landscape park "Znesinnia." He enrolled in the master's program at the Ukrainian Catholic University. He was involved in volunteering, assisting Ukrainian soldiers. He was one of the founders of the NGO "Circle of Honor" and the head of the local branch of the public organization "Ukrainian People's Council of Donetsk and Luhansk" in Lviv. After the start of the full-scale war, Oleg joined the ranks of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Daniel and went to the front lines. He fought in his native Donbas. Later, their unit was sent to Kherson region. "My friend Oleg Kursky from an enemy mine. A volunteer. A public activist. A resident of Donetsk. A fighter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since the beginning of the war in 2014, he switched completely to Ukrainian. He stu at UCU. An extremely honest and decent man. Genuine. Sincere. Enemies must be destroyed. All of them," wrote Stanislav Fedorchuk. The defender was buried in Lviv. Oleg is survived by his wife. In honor of the fallen soldier, the Ukrainian Catholic University established a scholarship named after Oleg Kursky.
