- 50-year-old junior sergeant Oleg Khlivny (call sign Tuesday) was killed on April 7, 2022, while defending the city of Vuhledar in Donetsk region. Around 5:00 AM, in the area of the village of Mykil's'ke, the enemy attempted a tank assault on the positions of Ukrainian defenders. After 4 hours of unsuccessful attempts, the occupiers began to retreat, using tanks for cover. Shells hit the position where three friends were located, including Oleg Khlivny. All of them died. Oleg was born and lived in Mykolaiv. He received a secondary education. He worked at the city market. In 2014, he fought in the ATO in Donbas. There, he met fellow countrymen who later became his close friends. He returned to civilian life and work. He was married, and the couple raised daughters and already had grandchildren. Above all, he wanted his family to never know what war was like. However, on February 24, 2022, a full-scale invasion began. On the morning of that day, Oleg, along with friends and comrades from the ATO, went to the military recruitment office. Initially, the men became fighters in the 36th Marine Brigade, and later transferred to the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. Oleg held the position of squad commander. Thus, they found themselves back in Donbas, where they all died together. “A wonderful, caring man and father, a loving grandfather. He was always a jack of all trades,” noted the deceased's wife, Natalia. The defender was buried at the Korabelne cemetery in his hometown of Mykolaiv, next to two friends. At home, his wife, two daughters, and grandchildren were waiting for him. Posthumously, Oleg Khlivny was awarded the Order of Courage III degree.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
