- 23-year-old soldier Oleh Babych was killed on March 26, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near the village of Kamianka in the Kharkiv region. The village was completely occupied the day before. Ukrainian defenders went on the assault, for Oleh this was the 19th and last attack. Since then, he has been considered missing, as his body remained on the battlefield. Only after 8 months was it possible to find and evacuate him. Oleh was born in the village of Velykyi Bairak, Poltava region. He completed 9 grades of secondary school. He then obtained the profession of a farmer at the Khorol Agro-Industrial College. Later, he graduated from the Poltava State Agrarian University, where he mastered the profession of a technologist. For some time, he worked in construction and on a farm, and was employed in the Czech Republic. In 2021, he was called up for military service. In September of the same year, he signed a contract with the 95th Separate Airmobile Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The young man served in the 13th Separate Airmobile Battalion named after the Hero of Ukraine Taras Seniuk. He held the position of senior gunner. He carried out combat missions in the Joint Forces Operation near the settlement of New York in the Donetsk region. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Oleh, together with his comrades-in-arms, continued to defend Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. "From the beginning of the full-scale invasion, he honorably and with dignity fulfilled his duty to defend Ukraine and was faithful to the military oath until his last breath. He sacrificed himself for the victory, the freedom of Ukraine and all of Europe. The war has taken his life from us forever," said the mother of the fallen Liubov Mykolaivna. On April 28, 2023, the fallen paratrooper was escorted to his last journey in his native village. Oleh is survived by his parents, brother, relatives and friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
