- Senior Lieutenant Oleg Popovychuk (call sign "Deputy) was killed on May 6, 2023, while defending the Motherland from the occupiers in the Bakhmut direction of Donetsk region. The officer was 41 years old. Oleg was born in the village of Zhubryvychi, Zhytomyr region. He lived in the town of Gostomel, Kyiv region. He obtained two higher educations: he graduated from the National Technical University "Kyiv Polytechnic Institute named after Igor Sikorsky" and the Irpin Tax Academy. Until 2016, he headed the Kyiv Regional Federation of Horting and worked as a judge at competitions. He was also a deputy of the Gostomel village council and a lecturer at the Irpin State College of Economics and Law. On February 24, 2022, the man took up arms and began to defend Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. Oleg fought in the ranks of the 77th separate air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was the deputy head of armaments, military equipment and property of special forces. "Oleg was a true warrior. He always defended the interests of the people. He never stood aside from someone else's trouble. He was elected a deputy, served the people for two terms. He had a very high rating in his district. He actively participated in the upbringing of Ukrainian youth. He taught for many years at the Irpin College of Economics and Law. He taught not one generation of young students, passing on his knowledge and skills to them. Oleg had a very active civic position. He organized many rallies, defending people's rights. He never stood aside from someone else's trouble. He was engaged in charity. He helped a lot of people who turned to him. Many children visited various interesting places thanks to the charity of Oleg Mykolaiovych, who, gathering whole buses, took them to rest in Kyiv," wrote his ex-wife Tetiana Oliinyk. The officer was buried in the town of Gostomel, Kyiv region. Oleg is survived by his mother, daughter, ex-wife, relatives, friends and comrades-in-arms.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
