Oleh O. Holubenets (Istoryk)

Soldier Oleg Golubenetc (call sign Historian) was killed on November 11, 2023 near the village of Bohdanivka in the Donetsk region. In the battle with the occupiers, he suffered a fatal injury during a mortar attack. The next day, the defender would have turned 32 years old. Oleg was born in the village of Kryvyi Lis, Mykolaiv region. He graduated from the Mykolaiv National University named after V.O. Sukhomlynskyi and obtained a degree in history teaching. After graduation, he worked in his specialty in the village of Kryvyi Lis Druhe, and later moved to the city of Irpin, Kyiv region. Before the invasion, he worked as an instructor and theory teacher at a driving school in the capital. He was interested in military history, military equipment, aviation, and cars. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the man went as a volunteer to defend his country from the occupiers. He fought in the ranks of the 3rd separate assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a medic-sapper in the engineering support group. "It seemed that there was nothing in the world that Oleg did not know. He was an educated, intelligent and interesting person. The people around him were always fascinated by him. When I asked if he had anything wrong, he always said: 'For Ukraine,'" said the wife of the deceased Kateryna. Oleg was buried in the village of Kryvyi Lis Druhe in the Mykolaiv region. The defender left behind his parents, wife and sister.
