- Sniper-scout Oleh Medvediev (call sign Rocker) died on September 16, 2023, while performing a combat mission as a result of a mine explosion on the border of Sumy region and the Russian Federation. The defender was 24 years old. Oleh was born in Luhansk. In 2014, he moved to Kyiv with his mother. He completed 9 grades of a secondary school and enrolled in the Kyiv Professional College of Tourism and Hospitality, where he obtained a degree in software engineering. He worked as a bartender. At the age of 19, Oleh decided to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, signed a contract, and participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation. During the full-scale war, he defended the country as part of the 54th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion, serving as a sniper-scout. He defended the Kyiv region, Bakhmut, and carried out tasks in the Sumy region. He was interested in music and weapons and enjoyed fishing in his free time. For his service, Oleh was awarded the Order of Courage of the III and II degrees. The latter was awarded posthumously. "He was a kind, honest person and a true son of his country, who gave his own life for its freedom," said his mother, Olha Lysenko. The defender was buried at the Forest Cemetery in Kyiv.
