Military serviceman Oleg Sich was killed on August 6, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers near the city of Vuhledar in Donetsk region. The fighter received fatal injuries during the enemy's artillery shelling. The defender was 49 years old. Oleg was born in the village of Velyki Nyzhirtsi, Zhytomyr region. He finished 8th grade at Berdychiv School No. 11. Then he received the profession of a welder at PTU No. 4. In 1990-1992, he served in the army. After returning home, he worked as a driver in a sports goods store, and after studying at a technical school, he received the position of a commodity expert. Later, he became a private entrepreneur, trading in sports goods. He lived with his family in the village of Myrne, Zhytomyr region. During the full-scale war, Oleg stood up to defend his native country, joining the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 53rd separate mechanized brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. He was a gunner-air defense gunner of the air defense platoon. "Oleg Sich showed steadfastness of spirit, courage, and loyalty to the military oath, which did not allow the enemy to advance further. Unfortunately, he did it at too great a cost," said the deceased's son Bohdan. "Eternal memory and the Kingdom of Heaven to the hero of Ukraine, my classmate Oleg. May the earth be soft and eternal rest be yours, friend. Sincere condolences to the family," wrote Olena Kukharchuk. The warrior was buried at the Berdychiv cemetery. At home, Oleg's wife, son, daughter, and granddaughter were waiting for him.
