Oleh O. Tarhonii (Alfa)

Soldier Oleh Tarhonii (call sign Alpha) was killed on December 30, 2022 in a battle with Russian occupiers near the city of Soledar in the Donetsk region. The warrior received fatal injuries during an artillery barrage. In November, the defender turned 22 years old. Oleh was from the Mykolaiv region. He graduated from the 9th grade of the Novomariivka school. Then he studied at the vocational school No. 42 in Novyi Buh, where he obtained the profession of tractor mechanic. He was fond of sports, loved to play football, and participated in sports events. On February 25, 2022, Oleh went to the military enlistment office to defend his homeland. On March 8, he joined the ranks of the 61st Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a rifleman and a combat medic. He took part in the fighting in the Mykolaiv and Kherson regions. On December 25, he went to defend the city of Soledar, where he was killed 5 days later. "Oleh was sincere and open, he had many friends. He was a patriot. He was fair, courageous, determined, and brave. During the war, he sought to learn new things. He was always ready to help. Oleh loved life very much, he deserved to live long and beautifully, but unfortunately, the war took his life. His death is a terrible loss for us," said his sister Olha. The young warrior was buried in his native village of Novomariivka. Oleh is survived by his parents, two sisters, three brothers, many friends, and comrades-in-arms. A memorial plaque was installed on the facade of the local lyceum in honor of the fallen warrior.
