- Warrior Oleg Sapalenko (call sign Jeweler) was killed on June 23, 2022 while carrying out a combat mission in the Kharkiv region. The defender was now forever 28 years old. Oleg was born and lived in Kharkiv. He graduated from local school No. 73. Then he received higher education at the Kharkiv National Automobile and Highway University. From childhood he was fond of sports. He practiced combat sambo and grappling - a combat sport. He won victories and awards in competitions at the city and all-Ukrainian levels. He loved football and supported FC Metalist (Kharkiv). In 2014, he participated in the Revolution of Dignity in his native Kharkiv. Since 2016, he has been fighting in the ATO / JFO. Since 2019, he has served in the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he held the position of reconnaissance sniper. During the full-scale invasion, he was transferred to the Kraken unit, as part of which he defended his hometown. "For me, Oleg was the best friend, not just a brother. It's very painful that he's not among the living. But I'm proud of Jeweler, he's the best of those I've known in my life. His courage and true love for the Ukrainian land deserve the title of Hero of Ukraine! He went on that last mission, having great experience in military affairs, to lead out the young guys, although he didn't have to go there! But he was killed! I'm proud of him, I'm very sad and I love him!" - shared his cousin Oksana Scriabina. Oleg's body could only be found two years after his death. Oleg left behind his parents, brother, sister, nephews and a lot of friends. To honor the memory of the hero, a memorial plaque was installed in his native school, and a mural was created in Kharkiv.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
