- Military pilot Oleg Sklyar was killed on April 23, 2022, while performing a combat mission near the village of Oleksandrivka in the Kharkiv region. The occupiers shot down the helicopter of the Ukrainian defenders, and the entire crew perished. The officer was 25 years old. Oleg was born in Kharkiv. He stuwas killed at Lyceum No. 149. He then graduated from the Kharkiv National University of Air Force named after Ivan Kozhedub, where he obtained the profession of pilot. He loved spending time with friends. In winter, he always went snowboarding. He read books, played chess well, and stuwas killed English in depth. After graduation, the officer was assigned to serve in the 11th Separate Army Aviation Brigade "Kherson." He initially served as a pilot-operator and later became a helicopter commander. He participated in the ATO / JFO. He was awarded the medal "JFO. For Valor and Loyalty," and the Commander of the JFO's distinction "Cossack Cross" II class. From the first days of the full-scale war, Oleg continued to carry out combat missions in hot spots and defend Ukraine. "Oleg was the best son, grandson, nephew, and friend. He was an example for his younger cousin and sister. He was a brave, caring, kind, responsible, and cheerful person. He loved his job. He dreamed of traveling the world, getting married, and having a happy family. But this horrible war destroyed those dreams and took my boy's life. I still cannot believe that Oleg is no longer with us. It seems he is somewhere on a mission and will return soon, call, or write... My dear son! You were and will always be the BEST OF WHAT WAS in my life. I love you and remember you, my dear Olezha, my Hero, my angel, my pride, my life," wrote the mother of the fallen, Natalia. The hero was buried in the Alley of Glory in his hometown of Kharkiv. Oleg was left with only his mother. He never had the chance to create his own family.
