Oleh S. Yurdyha

Oleg Stepanovich Yurdiga was born on June 24, 1976, in the village of Yaktoriv, Zolochiv district, Lviv region. He studied at the school in the village of Slovita and later entered a higher vocational school in Lviv, specializing as a "Butcher." He served his military conscription in Khmelnytskyi and completed it with the rank of junior sergeant in the position of commander of an infantry fighting vehicle. After returning, he got married and moved to Lviv. A passionate sports lover, Oleg Stepanovich adored football and played for the team of his native village Yaktoriv. He was also fond of nature: he constantly went to the forest as soon as the first flowers bloomed, which he collected for his wife. Oleg Stepanovich had another hobby — he loved to grow trees. He constantly bought various seedlings and transported them to the village to his wife's parents, where he helped them take care of the garden. He worked in construction, traveling to different cities with a crew. In the spring of 2014, Oleg received a summons and immediately went to the military enlistment office without hiding. He served for 10 months at the Yavoriv training ground as an instructor, and then as part of the 128th separate mountain infantry brigade, he went to the East. He was demobilized in September 2015. In September 2016, he was accepted for military service under contract (for six months) and went to war for the second time after a short training at the Yavoriv training ground. He was a serviceman of the 24th separate mechanized brigade. He died on November 10 at approximately 16:00 in the area of the village of Novozvanivka, Popasna district, Luhansk region, as a result of a mortar shelling of our positions. Oleg Stepanovich was at a combat post at that time, where he received a shrapnel wound to the right side of his torso, incompatible with life. He is survived by his wife and two children. On November 14, 2016, when Oleg's body was being transported to his native village of Yaktoriv from Lviv, people with Ukrainian flags came out to pay their respects to the soldier along the way. Villagers greeted Oleg by kneeling.
