Oleh V. Buiakin

26-year-old soldier Oleh Buiakin was killed on June 3, 2023 in the battle for the city of Avdiivka in the Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during enemy mortar and artillery shelling. Oleh was born in the village of Bilohorilka, Poltava region. He completed 9 grades at the local school. In 2012, he entered the Reshetylivka Vocational Lyceum named after I.H. Borovenskyi, where he obtained the profession of electric gas welder. From 2014, he worked in his specialty at the logistics and transport company "Ukrtrans". In September 2020, he moved to the village of Luka. Later, he started to work abroad. When the full-scale war began, Oleh returned to his homeland and volunteered for the front line. He joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the separate Presidential Brigade named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytskyi. "Good, cheerful, sincere. The hero had many friends, because he found an approach to everyone, could cheer up everyone, never refused help, everyone loved and respected him. He dreamed that he would return from the war and celebrate our victory with all his friends. 'I will definitely return!' he told his mother, calling from the war, sincerely repeating with a smile and confidence in his voice that it would be so. But it was not to be..." - said the Lokhvytsia community. Oleh was buried in the village of Luka, Poltava region. At home, his parents and sister were waiting for the defender. On October 10, 2023, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of the Bilohorilka school in memory of the fallen warrior.
