Biography
Oleg Vasylovych Chornomorets was born on April 25, 1965, in the city of Korosten, Zhytomyr region. In 1986, he graduated from the Khmelnytsky Higher Artillery Command School. He served in Germany, where he commanded a self-propelled artillery battery. In 1990, he was discharged to the reserve with the rank of senior lieutenant and worked on the railway in Korosten. In March 2014, he was called up for a 10-day training session with the 95th Airborne Brigade. He had the right to be discharged as a father of three children but continued to serve. In 2014, he commanded a howitzer battery "Hvozdyka" in Donetsk region and later served in the 90th Separate Airborne Battalion. He was demobilized on April 17, 2015. Soon after, he returned to the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, served in the Korosten military enlistment office, and commanded an anti-tank battery in the 43rd Artillery Brigade. By the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, he held the position of deputy commander of the 503rd Separate Marine Battalion, which was in the Mariupol direction. On March 9, 2022, in battles near the village of Zachativka in Donetsk region, the battalion he commanded inflicted significant losses on the Russian invaders. After the enemy deployed reserves into battle, Oleg Chornomorets lost communication. That same day, it was established that Major Oleg Chornomorets had called fire upon himself and was killed while defending his country, giving his own life to save his comrades in arms.Burial place
