Oleh V. Fedchyshyn

Captain Oleh Fedchyshyn was killed on February 21, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Katerynivka in the Donetsk region. The officer was 31 years old. Oleh was born in the village of Ivaniv, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from the Ivaniv secondary school. Later, he decided to dedicate his life to the army. Since 2013, he has been serving under a contract in military unit A3091, holding the position of senior gunner, with the rank of senior soldier. Since May 2014, he has been participating in the ATO in the Donetsk region. In 2015, he entered the Lviv National Academy of Land Forces named after Hetman Petro Sahaidachny, which he graduated from in 2019. After graduation, he held the position of commander of the 4th self-propelled artillery battery of the 28th separate mechanized brigade named after the Knights of the Winter Campaign. He carried out combat missions on the territory of the Joint Forces Operation. During his service, he was repeatedly awarded by the command. He met the full-scale invasion together with his comrades-in-arms and continued to defend Ukraine from the enemy. "Since 2014, Oleh has dedicated his young life to military service. He was a true courageous commander who defended both his native land and his comrades-in-arms. He always said: 'My guys have to be alive and healthy near their parents and their families.' Every day, when calling, he said: 'I will be here and there to protect you. I want you to live and sleep peacefully.' He was an extraordinarily kind father to his daughter Viktoria and a good son to his parents. Brother, you will be forever in our hearts. I'm still waiting for you to call. As long as we live, we are in debt to you, our Hero. I love and miss you infinitely. Fly, our Angel, to paradise, because you have already been to hell," wrote his cousin Veronika. The officer was buried in his native village in the Vinnytsia region. Oleh is survived by his parents, brother, daughter, and other relatives and friends.
