40-year-old serviceman Oleg Horny was killed on October 6, 2022, during the de-occupation of the Kherson region. The defender sustained fatal injuries as a result of an artillery shell hit. Oleg was born and lived in the village of Orynyn in the Khmelnytskyi region. He stu at a local school and obtained a tractor driver qualification at Balyn Vocational School. He served in the army under the conscription. He was engaged in entrepreneurial activities and worked abroad. In 2017, he settled in Kyiv, where he had his own business. When the full-scale war began, he immediately went to the recruitment office, saying, "I must defend my homeland because behind me is my son, my dear nephews, my mother, relatives, and millions of peaceful citizens." Oleg joined the ranks of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of Zakarpattia. "Oleg dreamed that everything would be peaceful in his family, and that everyone would be alive and healthy. He had a good nature, never refused to help, and had many friends who were always in touch with him, no matter where he was. He feared nothing, did not wait for manna from heaven, but always worked," said the relatives of the fallen. "The serviceman was killed while carrying out combat missions in the Kherson region. We express our sincere condolences to the family of the fallen warrior. Eternal memory to the Hero!" noted the Orynyn community. The defender was buried in his native village. Oleg is survived by his mother, sister, and son.
