Oleh V. Kvasnytsia

25-year-old soldier Oleh Kvasytsya was killed on December 22, 2022 while defending Bakhmut from the occupiers. Near the village of Yakovlivka, the warrior received fatal injuries as a result of enemy mortar shelling. Oleh was born in the village of Honcharivka, Lviv region. He graduated from the Zolochiv vocational school, obtaining the profession of a mechanic-driver. He served his military service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was interested in history and collected coins. When the full-scale war began, Oleh was abroad. He immediately decided that he had to return and defend his homeland. At first, he joined the 146th separate repair and restoration regiment, then he was transferred to a combat unit. He held the position of a gunner in the grenade launcher squad of the fire training platoon of the 128th separate mountain assault brigade. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended Ukrainian lands from the occupiers on various hot fronts. "Oleh was brave, kind, sincere, honest, always smiling. Being in the very hell, he found the strength and time to call, say how much he loved me, and joke, although there was no time for jokes there. He knew well where he was going and what the consequences might be, but he believed until the last that everything would be fine. Oleh is a man with a capital letter. He gave his life so that Ukraine would be free and independent. Now He is a guardian angel who will protect us from heaven," said the deceased's fiancée Yulia. "I can't believe you're no longer with us! Eternal memory to you, my brother!" wrote Halyna Lakotska. The serviceman was buried in his native village. At home, his parents, brother, and fiancée were waiting for Oleh.
